KITB, Yih Quan Footwear Indonesia, and Deckers HOKA Promote Jodo Beach Cleanup: "Small Actions, Big Impact"

Beach cleanup at Jodo Beach

Batang, September 5, 2024 – Under the theme "Small Actions, Big Impact," PT Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang (KITB), along with tenants Yih Quan Footwear Indonesia and Deckers HOKA, organized a beach cleanup at Jodo Beach. The activity aimed to educate the public that simple actions in protecting the environment can make a significant impact on nature's preservation. Located along the coast near the industrial zone, this social initiative is a tangible example of how small collaborations can create meaningful change.

The cleanup focused on maintaining the beach’s cleanliness and raising awareness of proper waste management. The event involved dozens of employees from PT Yih Quan Footwear Indonesia, Deckers HOKA, and local community members, all of whom participated enthusiastically. The local village and district governments also supported the initiative, seeing it as a first step toward a cleaner and healthier environment.

Tanya Liwail Chamdy, Head of Corporate Communication, CSR, and Community Development at KITB, emphasized that this small action could have a big impact on the sustainability of the surrounding environment. "We believe that simple actions like beach cleanups can create an incredible domino effect. With the theme 'Small Actions, Big Impact,' we aim to inspire communities and other companies to join in protecting the environment. This activity is not just about today but about a greener and more sustainable future," said Tanya.

During the cleanup, participants collected plastic waste scattered along the Jodo Beach shoreline while educating the public about eco-friendly waste management. The activity was warmly received by local residents, who were delighted to take part in keeping the beach—one of their local pride spots—clean.

This event went beyond just the physical effort of cleaning the environment; it also included education on waste separation and reducing single-use plastics. This aligns with KITB’s vision of creating an environmentally friendly, smart, and sustainable industrial area. "With small actions like this, we hope to make a big impact on environmental preservation around the industrial zone and inspire others to do the same," Tanya added.

Ed Alonso, Project Manager of Deckers HOKA, noted that the company’s participation in this event aligns with its values, which prioritize making a positive environmental impact. "At Deckers HOKA, we are always committed to environmental sustainability through various initiatives. This beach cleanup not only contributes directly to environmental cleanliness but also fosters collective awareness about the importance of nature conservation," said Alonso. "We believe that collaboration between companies and communities is key to creating a better future for the next generation."

The local village head expressed great appreciation for this initiative, stating that it had a positive impact not only on beach cleanliness but also on raising community awareness about the importance of environmental stewardship. "We hope that activities like this can become a regular agenda so that companies and communities can continue working together to protect Batang’s natural heritage," he said.

With the theme "Small Actions, Big Impact," this beach cleanup demonstrated that even the smallest contributions from individuals and companies can bring significant change to the environment. Jodo Beach now looks cleaner, and this initiative stands as clear evidence that small collaborations can create a big impact.

Going forward, PT Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang, along with its tenants such as Yih Quan Footwear Indonesia and Deckers HOKA, is committed to continuing its active role in social programs that support environmental sustainability and community welfare. In this way, KITB further strengthens its position as an industrial area that focuses not only on economic growth but also on making a real contribution to nature conservation and social well-being.
