PT Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang Exemplifies Effective, Transparent, and Beneficial Management of State Capital Participation

visit to Yih Quan Footwear Indonesia

Batang – The National Financial Accountability Agency (BAKN) of the Indonesian House of Representatives conducted a working visit to PT Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang (KITB) on Monday, June 10, 2024, to discuss the utilization of State Capital Participation (PMN) provided through PT Kawasan Industri Wijayakusuma (KIW), the largest shareholder in KITB. The visit was also attended by representatives from the Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN) of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises.

Following a presentation on the effectiveness of PMN fund usage, the guests visited one of the tenants in the area, PT Yih Quan Footwear Indonesia. They toured the shoe manufacturing process, accompanied by Joanna Tsai, Marketing/Ex-Im Manager at PT Yih Quan Footwear Indonesia. Joanna explained that the company employs 1,200 workers, with 90% being local residents. The company plans to make its first export to the United States in July.

Hendrawan Supratikno, Vice Chairman of BAKN, expressed hope that KITB would become globally competitive and support the accelerated development of integrated industrial zones to boost economic growth in Central Java. He noted that the collaboration between PT KIW and PT KITB was excellent. Almost 1 trillion rupiah of PMN funds have been effectively used, and the state should push for accelerated development to ensure optimal services in this industrial zone within the next 10 years.

Ngurah Wirawan, President Director of KITB, thanked BAKN for their visit, the trust placed in PMN through KIW, and the appreciation received. "We hope to complete our work this year and realize significant investments for the development of Batang," he said.

Anis Byarwati, Vice Chairman of BAKN, commended the employment of local labor in the development of the Integrated Industrial Zone of Batang. In addition to the industrial sector, KITB is also developing educational tourism that attracts visitors. Anis noted that the utilization of PMN funds at KITB was highly effective with budget savings. "Alhamdulillah, there were no findings from the BPK regarding this PMN. This is an example of how PMN funds are used effectively and can save the budget," she added.

KITB has also attracted numerous foreign investors, with one set to begin exports in July. The KITB management has planned the construction of tourism facilities such as hotels, hospitals, and schools, which will enhance the attractiveness of the industrial area. The combination of industry and tourism is expected to attract tourists and educational visits, making the industrial zone a model of good practice.

The effective and efficient use of PMN funds and the absence of findings from the BPK indicate that the project is well-managed and trustworthy. BAKN appreciates these achievements and hopes that the Integrated Industrial Zone of Batang continues to develop and benefit the community.
